Please be sure to turn off your washing machine valve after each use. It is also recommended that the washing machine hoses be replaced every five (5) years. Furthermore, you may want to consider replacing old rubber hoses with stainless steel hoses to minimize the risk of leaks.
Additionally, remember to clean lint filters after each dryer use and have the dryer vent cleaned once a year. Cleaning will improve the efficiency of your dryer and also minimize fire hazard.
Residents experiencing brown water are urged to notify the Acton Board of Health, as this is a town issue, not a condominium issue. They can be reached at 978-264-9634.
If problems persist. it is possible to install a water filter for the building to filter out particulate matter. Unit owners may do so at their own expense, but all four units in a given building would have to agree to split the cost. Perry Plumbing has given us a quote of approximately $700 to install such a filter. If you would like more information, please contact Alpine.
